Call for Abstracts

The World Resources Forum (WRF) serves as a dynamic platform for fostering open, solution-oriented dialogue among policy-makers, scientists, businesses, and civil society organisations. A key highlight of our conference is the presentation of scientific contributions, showcasing innovative strategies and tools to promote sustainability and fairness in natural resource governance and management. Read more about the three conference tracks (“resource hotspots”) and “Drivers for Change” below.

We invite international experts from a wide range of fields and disciplines to submit their abstracts and share their insights at WRF’25, either in-person in Geneva or online. With a vibrant and diverse program, WRF’25 offers a unique opportunity for researchers to engage with key stakeholders, including scientists, policy-makers, business leaders, and civil society representatives.

WRF’25 focuses on three sectors with significant resource use and environmental, social and economic impacts (“resource hotspots”):

Extractive Sector

Enhance public and private governance for responsible sourcing of minerals and metals

Built Environment

Deliver resilient, sustainable and fair buildings and infrastructure

Consumer & Industrial Goods

Shift to sustainable production and consumption patterns

We are looking for scientific contributions that propose innovative strategies and tools to enhance sustainability and fairness across these sectors within planetary boundaries. We are particularly seeking research that explores the role, potential, challenges and opportunities of six key “Drivers for Change” across the three sectors:

SUFFICIENCY

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

MULTILATERAL GOVERNANCE

INNOVATION, DESIGN & DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES

INDICATORS, METHODS & STANDARDS

FINANCE AND TRADE

Global Sustainability Journal – Special Issue WRF’25

We are also excited to announce a special opportunity for contributors to the WRF’25 scientific sessions! Authors of accepted abstracts will have the option to submit a full paper for peer-review and potential publication in Global Sustainability, a globally renowned open-access journal by Cambridge University Press. This collaboration provides a unique avenue to increase the impact and visibility of your research by engaging with a global academic community focused on sustainability challenges and solutions. Further details on submission guidelines and timelines will be provided soon.
