Davos/St. Gallen, 29 March 2016 The official WRF 2015 meeting report is now available online. The 100-page publication includes the chairman’s summary, plenaries’ overview, summaries of the workshops and master classes, an overview of scientific sessions and WRF Cinema, photo gallery, participants survey, and other background information. Moreover, the report includes the Carbon Neutral Certificate of South Pole Group, which was awarded in January 2016, to offset the conference’s CO2 emissions.
More than 600 participants coming from about 110 countries and international organisations attended and actively contributed to this annual conference, last year held in Davos, Switzerland, on 11–14 October 2015. WRF2016 Latin America and the Caribbean will be held in San Jose, Costa Rica, May 17-20, 2016.
Participants, representing governments, businesses, think tanks, scientific communities and civil societies, as well as students and young researchers, debated and exchanged their views on how to increase resource efficiency, invest in innovation for sustainable production, respond to climate change, decrease the socio-environmental footprint of current consumption and production patterns, achieve sustainable lifestyles and ensure high quality of life for all groups of society. Attendees formulated global, national, regional and local policy recommendations and proposed strategies for further action and research.
Several back-to-back conferences and meetings were organised in conjunction with the World Resources Forum 2016, including:
- 17th Meeting of UNEP’s International Resource Panel (IRP, organised by UNEP, hosted by the Swiss government)
- Global Network Conference on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP, jointly organised by UNIDO and UNEP)
- ISO IWA Workshop Session #1 on Guidance Principles for Sustainable Metal Recycling (organised by SRI secretariat)
