Workshop

The event will open a strategic dialogue among stakeholders from government, business, academia, on how to bring life cycle thinking into critical decision-making processes, to achieve resource efficiency and sustainable development in a circular economy. We expect discussions on topics related to national environmental footprints (e.g. the SCP-HAT), sectoral hotspots and actions (e.g. plastics, food, electronics, chemicals), and capacity development.

  • Welcome and brief overview of the Life Cycle Initiative
  • Presentation on national environmental footprints: Sustainable Consumption and Production Hotspots Analysis Tool (SCP-HAT)
  • Presentation on application of environmental footprints in policy making
  • Presentation on application of life cycle thinking in address the hotspots in plastic pollution
  • Panel Discussion
    • How to mainstream the application of life cycle thinking in policies
    • How to improve the uptake of life cycle thinking in sectoral work to support business and governments
  • Summary and closure
