Geneva Time is in the Central European Time Zone – UTC/GMT +2 hours.


The climate of Geneva is temperate, oceanic. Winters are cool, usually with light frosts at night and thawing conditions during the day. Summers are pleasantly warm. Precipitation is adequate and is relatively well-distributed throughout the year, although autumn is slightly wetter than the other seasons.

Electricity and Power Outlets

In Switzerland the power sockets are of type J. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz (continental European standard). However, note that wall outlets are unique to Switzerland:

· The standard continental type hexagonal plugs with two round pins may be used without problems (type C – commonly used in Europe).
· German/French/Austrian/Italian plugs are not compatible with Swiss wall outlets.


Participants are advised to use an appropriate transformer. Adaptors for other plugs are available in most hotels.
