Empowerment, Investments and Community Wellbeing: Voices from the artisanal and small-scale mining sector in Zimbabwe

This WRF-AfricaMaVal Report explores the intricate dynamics of the artisanal and small-scale mining sector in Zimbabwe, focusing on the experiences and insights of ASM miners gathered during the ASM Academy held in April 2024 in Zimbabwe. Through a series of interviews with a diverse group of artisanal and small-scale miners, including women and young miners, the report uncovers the multi-faceted challenges they face, the sector’s potential to drive economic growth and community resilience, and the aspirations of those working within the sector. The publication aims to advocate for a shift in narrative towards the ASM sector, promoting empowerment, responsible sourcing and collaborative efforts among local and international stakeholders.
