Michael Scharp

Dr. Michael Scharp has been working at IZT since 1996. He holds a Master’s degree in Philosophy as well as a PhD and Master’s degree in Chemistry. At IZT he is heading the research cluster “Transformation and Sustainability”. He develops and co-ordinates large national and European research projects with several partners and considerable budgets .

His areas of specialization include: futures studies (roadmapping, Delphi-survey, horizon scanning),  methods and instruments of innovation (benchmarking, service engineering, cross impact analysis, focus groups). His research interests focus on resource consumption and resource requirements for future technologies (mass flow analysis, raw material indexes, critical resources analyses), environmental education (energy-saving behaviour, teaching renewables and resource efficiency). He also has developed numerous curricula and teaching materials for scholar, vocational and universitary education. Furthermore his expertise includes the development and use of digital media as part of a modern education.
