Meenakshi Piplani is a final year student of architecture at M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore, India, currently working as an Architecture and Research Intern at Auroville Design Consultants, Centre for Scientific Research, Tamil Nadu, India. She has worked on research in the fields of smart and sustainable cities, having recently published in the Indian Life Cycle Management Conference 2016 at New Delhi. Sustainable design of buildings and smart cities using biomimetic solutions, vernacular architecture and life cycle analysis of products and building engineering systems are the general directions of research topics that invite her interest. She is a voracious reader and an enthusiastic debater. Piplani believes that global issues should be resolved using solutions adapted to local conditions with respect to the unique conditions in distinct places of India, and that is where research and experiments play a critical role.
