A lot of research has been carried out about the use of the sun energy in our daily life. However the full potential of the sun has not been discussed to include its energy being able to be stored in plants where it remains as potential energy.

If only this potential energy could be studied further one would see the relationship of the sun to the wellbeing and development of human kind in a sustainable manner.

The sun has all the forms of energy including light, heat, sound, movement and hidden energy capable of bringing life. All these forms are trapped and stored by plants through the process of photosynthesis.

Through photosynthesis plants store the different forms of energy in their tissues. It is upon us to determine if the stored energy will became useful to us by using the right and sustainable technologies to unlock this energy to the right usage.

This energy can be released as biogas, fertilizer, food or fodder, carbon for heating/lighting or driving machines. The use of the sun to provide energy has changed the human attitude towards resource utilization as they take resources as the major store of their energy needs. Poor management of resources means poor management of energy and yet the suns energy is free and sustainable to everybody and everywhere especially in developing countries. Many do not understand that by over eating or by wasting of food one is misusing energy.

There are simple technologies which are appropriate and sustainable to utilize but also store suns energy. Let us all work towards developing and popularising such technologies so as to utilize the abundant suns energy maximally
