Elisa Tonda is the Head of the Consumption and Production Unit in the Economy Division of UN Environment, whose main goal is the promotion of sustainable production and consumption policies, practices and initiatives through the engagement of governments, the business community and civil society organizations. Prior to that, Elisa worked in UNEP Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, where she was in charge of supporting the implementation of the UNEP’s Resource Efficiency, Sustainable Consumption and Production and Green Economy initiatives. During her professional experience with UN Industrial Development Organization, she was responsible for project development and management in the area of Cleaner Production and sound chemicals management. She also worked with the private sector in the promotion of environmental solutions.
Elisa has a Master degree in Environmental Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin, Italy, and in Sustainable Development from the University of London, UK.
