Doaa Abdel-Motaal is Executive Director of the Rockefeller Foundation Economic Council on Planetary Health. She is an environment, climate and agriculture expert with over twenty years of national and international experience. Doaa was advisor to the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Pascal Lamy, and Deputy Chief of Staff. She was Chief of Staff of the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development, and external assessor of the performance and operations of the United Nations World Food Program. On a research sabbatical, she travelled to Antarctica on a National Geographic Expedition and the Canadian Arctic in an Earthwatch Institute climate expedition, publishing a book entitled ‘Antarctica; the Battle for the Seventh Continent’. Doaa holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Geneva, a Master of Philosophy degree in Environment and Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from the American University in Cairo, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Swarthmore College.
