Barbara Rigassi joined BHP – Brugger and Partners Ltd. in June 2002 as vice president and member of the executive committee. Since January 2010 she is managing partner. From 1987 to 1993, Barbara held important functions at the Swiss Ministry for Economy, including the project management for the development of financing schemes and trade promotion in Latin America as well as senior membership of the Swiss negotiating team in the Uruguay Round of the GATT/WTO. In 1993 she was appointed as personal advisor for international economic affairs by the Minister of Economy. Thereafter, Barbara joined one of the major Swiss banking institutes as secretary general and personal advisor to the CEO. In 1999 she was appointed by the Swiss Government as Member of the Executive Board of the State Secretariat of Economy, Head of the Economic Promotion Division. Ambassador Rigassi was instrumental in shaping Switzerland’s polices for small- and medium sized enterprises (SME), international investment and trade promotion as well as tourism. Her fields of expertise at BHP are international economic relations, tourism and SME-strategic consulting as well as general project management.
