Marcos Alegre has been President of The Global Network on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production-RECPnet and member of the Steering Committee of the International Resources Panel-IRP. As Director of the Peruvian National Cleaner Production Centre named Ecoefficient and Corporate Social Responsibility Centre-CER (operated by Grupo GEA), he has promoted several national initiatives on eco-innovation, eco-industrial parks and cleaner production.
He has been Vice Minister of Environmental Management of The Ministry of Environment in Peru (2016-2018). During his public service period, it was established a new legislation on solid waste management and extended producer responsibility, as well as, a national law on plastics and a route map for circular economy in Peru.
Marcos is Sanitary Engineer by the National University of Engineering (Perú) with a Master of Science degree at Loughborough University of Technology, UK.
