At the World Resources Forum, Sonia leads work in sustainable recycling industries and life cycle sustainability since 2014. She contributes to several EU Horizon projects on sustainability and labelling of medical devices, including DiCE, ENKORE, and MedTechLabel, where she leads regulatory and policy recommendations and conducts sustainability assessments. Her broader portfolio spans coordinating the knowledge component of the Sustainable Recycling Industries programme on e-waste, convening the development of the ISO 59014 standard on sustainability of secondary materials recovery, and serving as committee member of ISO 14075 on social LCA.

Sonia brings decades of international experience to her role. She has worked with UNITAR, UNEP — where she coordinated the Secretariat of the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative — GIZ, and NACEC, among others. She has served as coordinator of the Pan-American Environmental Waste Management Network (REPAMAR) and as Honorary Professor at Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, Faculty of Sustainability, since 2016. She holds a PhD in Environmental Management and Policies from the Technical University of Karlsruhe (KIT) and an academic background in Industrial Engineering.

When not convening ISO committees, Sonia can be found travelling around the world or playing volleyball with her friends.
