Adrien Specker
At the World Resources Forum, Adrien leads projects spanning circular economy strategy, e-waste management, and sustainable resource use across Europe and Africa. He is leading the STEP Initiative (Sustainable Electronics Platform), a global multi-stakeholder platform bringing together governments, industry, and civil society to advance circularity across the full electronics lifecycle. He also contributes to the DiCE project, developing circularity metrics and indicators to evaluate the circular economy performance of medical devices, and supports sustainable waste management projects across Africa and Europe in collaboration with UNIDO, GIZ, and SECO. Beyond this work, Adrien contributes as an expert to the European Topic Centre (ETC), co-authoring publications from the European Environment Agency (EEA) on material flows, supply chain sustainability, and circular economy performance.
Adrien holds an MSc in Environmental Systems and Policy from ETH Zurich. His thesis was conducted on-site in South Africa over six months, in collaboration with EMPA and the University of Johannesburg, characterising plastic waste material flows from electronic waste, one of the first studies of its kind in the region.
Off the clock, you’ll find Adrien often covered in sawdust, crafting with wood. Woodworking and outdoors is how he recharges.
