Doris LeuthardZurich, 15 October 2013 Switzerland’s current network of railway and motorways is more than 30 year old. It is time to develop new intelligent solutions to address new demands and trends in society. Swiss Federal Councillor of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication, Mrs. Doris Leuthard, said this at a panel discussion on Swiss concepts towards sustainable mobility.

Possible solutions could be a more sufficient choice of mobility inter alia the choice of the carrier, or an intelligent peak shift to avoid mobility bottlenecks. Mrs. Leuthard spoke at the 12th edition of the Lifefair Forum Swiss. She warned that demographic trends and commuting patterns pose serious challenges for the development of a sustainable Swiss mobility network.
