The World Resources Forum Comes to Geneva – First Announcement WRF 2017

World Resources Forum 2017St. Gallen, 21 December 2016 The upcoming World Resources Forum (WRF) will take place in Geneva, Switzerland from October 24–25, 2017. Registration starts in February. The Call for Papers for the scientific sessions has already been opened today. “Accelerating the Resource Revolution” will be the overall topic of the annual flagship conference, which will bring over 500 participants together from all over the world.

Two years after two historic global agreements have been established – the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change – leaders and other change agents of government, business, research and NGOs will come to Geneva, host of many United Nations organisations, to discuss how resource efficiency and resources innovation can help contribute achieving the goals of these major programs of the United Nations. Climate change policies and human development cannot be brought about without major shifts in the use of natural resources and raw materials. This “Resource Revolution” has been recognized by industry and governments. How to accelerate the shift, and how to manage, coordinate, finance, track progress, train and communicate about it, will be discussed at the 2017 edition of the annual Forum, which has been organised in various parts of the world, most recently in Costa Rica.

Two sizzling days of plenary debates, partner workshops, scientific sessions, exhibitions, press conferences, WRF Cinema, Art Gallery, and social program, including the famous WRF Gala Dinner and WRF Concert in a carefully designed unique format will deliver open and inclusive multi-stakeholder dialogue.
