ICT solutions sustainable lifestyles workshop now open for registration

GeSI headerZurich, 11 January 2013 Today the online registration for the workshop on ICT solutions for sustainable lifestyles, to be held in Zurich, 13 February 2013, has been opened by the organising partners, WRF Secretariat, ITU, GeSI and HP. Participants are advised to use the easy online registration tool. Participation is at “first register first serve” basis. Registration can be done until ultimately Friday 8 February, although registration will be closed as soon as the capacity of the meeting room has been reached.

The lively interactive workshop, which is free of charge and will run from 14h00-18h00 (followed by a networking reception) will showcase promising ICT solutions helping consumers to be more sustainable and resource-efficient. It will also present the views of different organizations working on green ICT solutions, highlighting the role that standards, regulations and public policies play in moving from proof of concept to mainstream implementation. The long-term objective of the event is to create dialogue on the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in enabling sustainable lifestyles among stakeholders ranging from social scientists to industry and policy-makers.

The workshop is jointly organised by the World Resources Forum (WRF), the global science-based platform for sharing knowledge about the economic, political, social and environmental implications of global resource use, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN specialized agency responsible for information and communication technology, the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI), a strategic partnership of the ICT sector and international organizations committed to creating and promoting technologies and practices that foster economic, environmental and social sustainability, and Hewlett-Packard (HP), the world’s largest technology company bringing together a portfolio that spans printing, personal computing, software, services and IT infrastructure to solve customer problems.
